Sonic Kitchen |
||
The Original Electric Orange Banana Sliders |
Sonic Kitchen uses the sound sources available in a kitchen as its starting point.
The most obvious choices such as glasses, cups and saucepans feature as well as made instruments such as the cutlery-windchimes,
the tin-toms (a drum kit made from empty tin cans), the spamocastor (a tin of Spam with a built-in pick-up), the Dripper
(a constructed extrapolation of the idea of a dripping tap), washing machine drum and the blender-hurdygurdy.
The fusing of everyday objects with technology is extended further through the use of fruit and vegetables as controlling devices:
electrodes inserted into each item of fruit or vegetable measure their conductivity, this data is converted into a form
understandable by the computer and is subsequently used in processes of synthesis and sound processing.

Trio |
||
|
The Trio project presents a fusion of conventional improvisation between drums and keyboards and more unusual laptop derived materials.
The laptops provide the third voice of the trio.
Computer algorithms are carefully designed so that the players are not mere slaves to a tape part but instead evolve independently and behave different during each performance.
The human performers are also able to influence the direction of the laptop parts.
